“Passageway’’ is a work I designed for the group exhibition “Temas”, organized by Darağaç Collective in
2021 in a public space. The exhibition focused on human interactions in the post-pandemic period. In this project, I focused on windows, one of the rare spaces where individuals could communicate during the pandemic. Windows are places where we connect with our neighbors, breathe fresh air, smoke, and find relief by looking at the view. They also represent a gateway to the outside world in the perception of the individual, serving as a point of connection. Through this work, I reinterpret the functional and symbolic role of windows, transforming their significance into an experiential exploration of the relationship between interior and exterior. In this context, I positioned a photograph, containing both a window and a view, within an actual window opening located in a public space. Presented inside a light box, the photograph amplifies the sense of perspective it embodies, offering viewers a profound visual experience. The work extends from the window opening into an infinite depth, enhanced with sound and light installations. By doing so, it creates a multi-sensory space-visual, auditory, and tactile-where viewers can experience both the physical and symbolic dimensions of the window.
