In the video, the artist attempts to measure the shadows cast by high-rise buildings onto city dwellers. Using Google Earth’s aerial perspective—an impossible vantage point for the city’s residents—the video captures the artist’s process of quantifying the darkness imposed by these towering structures. It begins with the artist counting the shadows of tall buildings across the city and progresses into an effort to recount and measure the areas covered by these shadows.
